How does a round of Flag Blitz work?
Quib holds up a flag and four country names. Tap the right one before the 8 seconds run out. A wrong tap or a timeout costs one of your 3 lives; after 10 flags or three misses the session ends and you see your XP.
After every flag Quib tells you one thing about it, for example why Nepal's flag is not a rectangle or what the 27 stars on Brazil's flag stand for. That sentence is what makes a flag stick the second time you see it.
Which flags are in it, and how hard does it get?
All 170 flags belong to countries, spread over Europe, Africa, Asia, the Americas and Oceania. The wrong answers are chosen to be close: neighbors, similar colors, the same stars or crescent. Chad next to Romania, Monaco next to Indonesia, Ireland next to Côte d'Ivoire.
You pick easy, medium or hard before you start. Harder levels give 1.25× or 1.5× XP. You can also turn the clock off; then there is no rush and no bonus.
Is this a good way to learn all the flags of the world?
It works best in short, daily doses. Quible brings back the flags you got wrong: three rounds later in the same session, and again days later from your review box. That is spaced repetition, the same principle flashcard apps use, built into a game.
The first chapter of the learning path, Flag Basics, is built on Flag Blitz and Odd One Out. If you want a map quiz where you tap countries on a map, Quible is not that; how to learn all the flags of the world covers which tools do.
