Odd One Out: which one doesn't belong?

Odd One Out is the pattern game in Quible, a geography quiz for iPhone. Quib shows four items, three share something, one does not. Tap the intruder. Berlin, Madrid, Rome, Sydney: Sydney is the odd one out, because it is not a capital. There are 119 rounds on capitals, flags, countries, nature and history.

How does Odd One Out work?

Four answers, one question: which one doesn't belong? You tap it, then Quib names the rule the other three share. Sometimes it is obvious (capitals), sometimes it takes a second look (flags with a crescent, countries without a coastline, rivers that flow into the Black Sea).

A session is 10 rounds of 15 seconds.

Why is it part of the flag chapter?

Because spotting what three flags share is a good way to learn their details. The first chapter of the learning path, Flag Basics, mixes Odd One Out with Flag Blitz.

Odd One Out is also one of the eight duel games, and the same "which group does this belong to" thinking drives the Daily, where 16 items have to be sorted into four groups of four.
